Knowing what you need for your diy project

As with any Diy project, the most important thing is to have a clear idea of what materials you require to be able to complete the job. Purchasing your diy pool fencing from DIY FENCING NEW ZEALAND is easy and will potentially save you alot of money provided you follow a few very simple steps.

  • Before heading to the Components Page, visualise, measure and if it helps draw a quick sketch of an aerial view of your intended fenceline(s).
  • Note where the gate(s) are to be positioned within your fenceline(s). Note that our gates are 1005mm wide overall excluding posts either side of the gate.
  • Ascertain whether you need inground posts ( if you are installing fencing into the lawn ) Or whether you need Flanged Posts ( if you are installing fencing onto a solid surface )
  • Most importantly if you are requiring fencing for a pool fence make sure that you are familiar with The Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987 and make sure that you buy the correct fencing system for your individual situation - The particular fencing systems advertised on this site come in one height only and it can be stepped where required - it is not suitable however for steep slopes, stairs and it is not suitable for use as a balustrade when the height from the ground is over 1.0 metre
  • Once you have sketched a layout plan complete with accurate measurements you can then start planning what materials you require. Note that our panels come in lengths ranging from 2350 to 2450mm long ( dependant on quantities available at the time of ordering ) Also note that our posts are 50mm wide.  Note also that the panels are very easy to trim down to the required length. Try to minimise wastage of panels by manipulating whereever possible your layout plan so that you keep your panel wastage to a minimum. On your layout plan start at one end and using your knowledge of the panel, gate and post widths, sketch in the posts, the panels, and the gate(s). Note that you must purchase the shrouds separately to the fence panels, you will require 4 shrouds for each of the flat top and hoop top panels ( 8 if you trim the panel into 2 part panels..etc ) and with the Double Top Rail panels you will require 6 shrouds for each panel ( 12 if you trim the panel into 2 part panels..etc ). Note also that there are 5 alternative shroud options available, each option providing you with the correct screws for your situation.
